Description
The Water Butterfly is located in the countryside, on the edge of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, an area where tranquil open spaces still exist. This area is one of the most scenic areas in the Netherlands and offers activities like boating, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking, and, when the weather permits, skating. In this, the largest peat swamp of Northwest Europe, you’ll find plenty of space for plants, animals and humans. There is nothing finer than canoeing among the reeds, sailing past fields adorned with exuberant flowers or simply enjoying the mysteriousness of the swamp … This and much more await you in the De Weerribben-Wieden National Park.
The Water Butterfly is located near Giethoorn, the “Venice of the North”. The attractive places like Blokzijl, Ossenzijl, De Wetering, Kalenberg and St.Jansklooster all lie in the immediate vicinity. You can visit them by boat, car or bicycle. It is also possible to bring your own boat as there is a dock at the house. But boating is not the only thing that you can do there. Did you know that the Dutch Long Distance Swimming Championships are held here? And that for the simple reason that the water is very clean. Via a ladder at the jetty you can enter the water safely and enjoy swimming …
The Water Butterfly, a former farmhouse, is situated on private land on the waterways and offers lots of privacy. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the water, where you can relax and watch the boats sail by. Around the terrace there is a wooded garden. Peace and space here is a reality.
